Chatting with: JPEG – Design E Comunicação
JPEG – Design e Comunicação is one of the members of LACS Cascais, a creative design studio that is dedicated to each project and has an unlimited passion and love for what it does. JPEG’s clients are distinguished between advertising agencies, companies from the most varied sectors of the market and business owners. It is in this constantly changing spirit that JPEG likes to be flexible and have the ability to adapt to different emerging work formats.
We spoke with José Pedro Gomes, Founder and Creative Director.

Describe a typical day at JPEG.
We are passionate about Design. This allows us to use color, shape, type and textures in order to obtain a product with a unique feeling and image. For us, there is no greater joy.
How did JPEG get started? What’s the main idea behind JPEG?
It began 1998, with my nickname JPEG, I thought it was cool because it is JOSÉ PEDRO GOMES and also the name of the extension of the universal jpeg image format. And so JPEG – DESIGN E COMUNICAÇÃO was born.
What do you like most about LACS?
The space!!!
When you were a child, what did you want to become?
A taxi driver.
What was your first job?
In 1992, designer draftsman (I thought he was!).
Someone who inspires you and why?
The designer Massimo Vignelli.
“Pure” Design in all areas, photography, graphics and, of course, aesthetics, is fundamental for a designer.
What is the secret to success?
Be different … in everything.
Advice for someone just starting out?
“Become something new and iconic” by JPEG.
What are your favourite places in Lisbon?
Cascais.
