LACS forged a partnership with Fair Saturday, a cultural and social global movement. LACS Anjos and LACS Conde d’Óbidos will host two major events.
As the world prepares for the consumerism frenzy known as Black Friday, LACS chose a different perspective for this time of the year and opened its arms to welcome Fair Saturday, a social movement where creative global communities get together to endorse culture, fairness and public causes. The initiative takes place every Saturday after Black Friday.
LACS will be hosting two important Fair Saturday events on November 30, whose funds revert to Associação Lugar Comum and SOL – Associação de Apoio às Crianças Infectadas pelo Vírus da Sida e Suas Famílias, respectively. In other words, participants can choose the ticket price for every event, which will be redirected to the social associations Fair Saturday supports.
LACS Anjos will receive a photography exhibition between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m: "Ao Som de Nick Cave" by Agência Calipo, a musical and conceptual reinterpretation of the artist’s work. The images focus on the projects “Nocturama” (from the namesake album released in 2003, by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds) and “Short Stories”. Apart from that, the junior members of Centro de Artes e Formação do Bairro da Cruz Vermelha/Associação Lugar Comum will be performing a dance choreography between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Near the river, LACS Conde d’Óbidos will be the stage between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. for the multiple artist exposition Instalação de Artistas do Círculo Artur Bual from the Círculo Artistico Artur Bual, a cultural project focused on Plastic Arts, Literature and Music. Seventeen artists will present more than 100 different artworks.
Fair Saturday was launched in 2005 in the Spanish city of Bilbao as a multi-arts festival aiming to promote culture, empathy, social inclusion and creativity in the face of global growing isolation, xenophobia and disaffection. It is also an international joint action between artists and cultural organizations to support social projects. The movement has since spread throughout Italy, United Kingdom, Peru, USA, among others. Lisbon, with LACS’ help, will be emanating culture and social togetherness from its streets the next Saturday.
